Safety tips
Most swaps are two members from nearby restaurants trading meals. Still, you're meeting someone you don't know and eating food someone else handled. A few habits keep it easy.Meal Hookup doesn't screen members or check food. If something feels off, you can always say no, cancel, or walk away. No swap is worth feeling unsafe.
Who's on here
Everyone joined with an invite from a member, and every profile shows who invited them. Each member also confirmed a phone number by text when they signed up. One number gets one account, so fake and duplicate accounts stay out, and someone removed for breaking the rules can't come back with that number. Members never see each other's numbers.Meeting up
- Meet somewhere public, busy and well lit, like a coffee shop, a park entrance or a busy corner, not anywhere isolated.
- Never share your home address, and don't get into someone's car.
- Keep it quick: hand off, say thanks, done.
- Let a friend know where you're meeting and when.
Chatting
- Keep the conversation in the app's chat. You never have to give anyone your number.
- Don't share personal details like your real full name, home address, or money information.
- Nobody should ask you for money. Swaps are meal for meal, always free.
The food
- Ask about ingredients and allergens before you agree, and say so if you have an allergy.
- Offer food that's fresh, packed the way you'd want to receive it, and that you'd eat yourself.
- If a meal looks, smells or seems off when you get it, don't eat it.
- Be honest about what's in your meal.
